I've been there. I can completely sympathise. Big ones, small ones, painful ones, gross ones, ones you can't cover up.
I understand that you feel embarrassed and not your best, when all you want to do is go out and feel confident.
Since I have had a lot of compliments on my skin lately, I wanted to share with you my Skincare Secrets.
1) In many cases of acne around the mouth and chin, toothpaste is actually a cause! I swapped to an aloe toothpaste to begin with but they are expensive. I now use superdrugs own brand, which comes in whitening & sensitive too! No break outs since!
2) I always eat 7 fruits and veg a day at least. Yes, I'm vegan, but you can do this too - I feel great inside and out. Usually my dinner has 5 veggies and I snack throughout the day on fruits and cucumber/carrot sticks. All these veggies give you extra water too! Avoid having chips too often!! They are spot city!
You need to make it a HABIT. Save the expensive creams for when you can stick to your routine and make it a habit. There are wonderful life-changing lotions and potions out there but they will go to waste if you aren't ready to appreciate their greatness.
4) On that note..In the morning, I use a foam wash when I'm in the shower (right next to my shampoo so I don't forget!). I wash my face last so that all residue of shampoo and conditioner is gone. Be sure to use a natural shampoo & conditioner (vegan is best), as they don't contain any chemicals that would otherwise irritate your face and back (especially if you suffer from bacne). Afterwards, I tone and moisturise when I sit and do my makeup. Keep these products where you would use them!!
But at night, I remove my makeup with micellar water or oil (before using my facial cleansers etc), use a cream cleanser, then toner & a night serum before my moisturiser. Think of it like going swimming in a rain mac. If you haven't got every last bit of make up off, then you can't clean your skin properly. Double cleanse!
5) I gave up dairy. I was told this many a time but didn't want to listen. Sounds extreme, yet I've been able to stick to my lifestyle much easier because I can see the difference in my skin. I have also more recently swapped soya milk for almond milk as Soya seems to cause skin havoc for me too. Almond Milk is my saviour!!
I couldn't ever go back to that severe acne, that was so bad I wanted to cry when I saw my face in the mirror on my wedding day. Now I don't need camouflage makeup - in fact I don't need anything. Obviously I'm not a nutritionist or doctor so replacing the dairy in your diet means you need to get your vitamins elsewhere so check with your GP that are getting everything you need. But for me, it made a difference in a month! Now 6 months later I might get 1 or 2 little spots at that time of the month, but rarely any other time.
